Johann Baptist Reiter was a violin and bow maker. He studied under Jais and J. Vauchel in Würzburg, among others. From 1865, he served as the director of the Violin Making School in Mittenwald. His work featured classical models and demonstrated very fine workmanship, utilizing good varnish and materials. He was recognized as one of the better luthiers from Mittenwald in the 19th century. He exhibited his work in Paris, Vienna, and Nuremberg.
