Joseph Pineau
(1881 – after 1938)
Joseph Pineau was a pupil of A. Tolbecque starting in 1896. He worked for Gustave Bernardel for 15 years. In 1925, he established himself independently in Faubourg Saint Martin, Paris, and later relocated to rue Legendre. He was elected 'Ouvrier d'art' in 1901 and received a diploma as the best craftsman in France in 1938. His work featured Stradivari models, first-class materials, and varnish. He branded his instruments internally. A printed label read: Joseph Pineau / Luthier à Paris / No.. Année 19..
