Zenon Wladimir Petesh

Zenon Wladimir Petesh made six violins around 1935. He was a pupil of Didtchenko in Warsaw, Poland from 1937 to 1940. He succeeded to the business and managed it until 1944. Established in Nuremberg from 1944 to 1948, he worked briefly in Mittenwald. He subsequently went to the USA and worked for Moennig in Philadelphia from 1949 to 1950, William Lewis in Chicago from 1950 to 1968, and Kenneth Warren starting in 1968. His instruments were based on Stradivari and Guarneri models. He used European woods and his own spirit and oil varnish. A total of 58 violins, three violas, and one cello were recorded. His workmanship was fine. He branded his instruments internally: '2. W. Petesh'. The printed label read: Zenon Wladimir Petesz / fecit in Chicago Anno D. 19.. / sub titulo Sanctae Mariae.
