Nicolas Médard was the son of Henri Médard (I). Instruments were labelled from both Paris and Nancy, although it remains uncertain if he ever worked in Paris; this became a common practice among later Mirecourt luthiers. The Brussels Musical Instruments Museum housed a viol adorned with fleur-de-lys, dated 1701, and a viola from 1670 featuring painted decoration.
