Giovanni Mateligh created a violin with a somewhat Neapolitan appearance. It featured a full medium arch and broad upright soundholes positioned close to the edges. The outline was well regulated, although the workmanship was coarsely finished. A thin dark golden-brown varnish covered the instrument.
