Emmerich von Kabay was the son, pupil, and successor of Emmerich von Kabay (II). He served as an active member of the Beszkárt orchestra and was its official luthier. His work included Stradivari and Guarneri models, along with a personal model featuring very rounded upper bouts to enhance playability in the upper positions. His printed labels were numbered but consistently indicated the year 1936, the year he completed his journeyman's examination as a luthier.
