Andrea Bisiach
Violin maker
(1890 – 1967)
Andrea Bisiach, son of Leandro Bisiach, worked extensively with his father and brothers, Giacomo and Leandro Jr. He initially apprenticed in Mirecourt with Mougenot and became one of the finest makers and experts of his generation. From 1912 to 1914, he traveled widely, promoting and learning about his family's work while employed by Lyon & Healey in Chicago and Rudolph Wurlitzer in Cincinnati. After serving in the military from 1914 to 1916, he returned to work with his father in Milan and established himself independently in 1929. His great reputation as a connoisseur left little time for making, resulting in relatively rare instruments. He produced classical models characterized by accurate workmanship and fine finish, using golden red-orange varnish
