Pearson Gardiner
(c. 1758 – 1790)
Pearson Gardiner worked in the Duke style, which was seldom seen and rarely labelled. His craftsmanship was quite precise. The form followed Amati, although the soundholes were more in the Stainer style and set close to the edge. He used broad purfling with good materials and applied a thin but decent golden-brown varnish. Internally, he branded and signed his work: 'P Gardiner. '.
