László Reményi
(1895 – 1964)
László Reményi was the son and pupil of Mihàly Reményi. He qualified as a luthier in 1912. In 1913, he worked for G. Winterling in Hamburg, and in 1914, he was employed by Caressa & Francais in Paris. He served in the military from 1914 to 1918. Afterward, he joined his father in Budapest in 1919. He gained a high reputation as a connoisseur and maker. In 1949, he exhibited at The Hague. Many significant Hungarian luthiers worked in his shop, assisting with restoration and the creation of violins based on classical Cremonese models. He used a golden-orange oil varnish.
