George Langton Dykes

Violin maker
(1884 – 1922)

George Langton Dykes was the son and pupil of Harry Dykes. He became an active violin maker at the age of 12 and also received training from Paul Bailly, who had worked for his father. He created very fine French-style copies of classical instruments, utilizing a varnish recipe that supposedly originated from Vuillaume's workshop, which Bailly taught him. He was greatly admired during his time.
