James Brown was the son and pupil of James Brown (I), a maker of violins and bows known for trade quality and workmanlike finish. Active since 1834, he established his business at 18 White Lion Street, Norton Folgate in 1854. His cello bows were well-regarded. The brand was J. BROWN Jr.
