Plinio Michetti
Violin maker
(1891 – 1991)
Turinese violin maker Plinio Michetti was largely self-taught, with some guidance from Carlo Giuseppe Oddone and Annibale Fagnola. He began to work independently around 1919, and was extraordinarily prolific, winning numerous medals over the course of his career. Michetti's work, which is mostly inspired by classical models, is accurate and elegant, with good sonority. The materials and varnish are often quite good.
