Johann (Janos) Michelberger worked as a pupil of Andreas Bergmann. He collaborated with Mihaly Reményi, Karl Otto Zimmer, and Robert Laumann. From 1920, he established himself independently in Budapest. He produced fine copies of Cremonese work and also replicated Nemessanyi. His varnish was a hard spirit type in dark orange or red colors. He was regarded as one of the best Hungarian makers of that period. His work was branded internally. A manuscript label indicated: Michelberger Janos / 19..
