Joachim Tielke was the son of Gottfried Tielke and a celebrated and prolific maker of lutes, viols of all kinds, violins, and cellos. His workshop in Hamburg produced over 150 instruments, many of which are preserved in museums across Europe. Most featured intensely detailed carving and inlay work.
