Gaetano Rossi
Violin maker
(c. 1850 – c. 1883)
Gaetano Rossi was the son and pupil of Nicola Rossi. He established himself in the Contrada San Mattia alla Moneta. A specialist in double basses, he also crafted violins, violas, cellos, and various plucked instruments. His work featured a good application of rather thin red spirit varnish. He branded his instruments as `Rossi G. Milano'.
