Carlo Antonio Santino Lavazza
Violin maker
(1689 – 1726)
Carlo Antonio Santino Lavazza was the son of Pietro Antonio Lavazza. His work, a fine example of the Grancino school, exhibited some influence from Landolphi. It was more disciplined than the contemporary pieces created by the Testore family. The scroll was very much in the Grancino style, featuring flat arching that was very full to the edge, along with broad purfling and substantial golden-brown varnish.
