Andreas (Andras) Bergmann I
Violin maker

Andreas (Andras) Bergmann worked as a pupil of Bartek. He was employed by Pilat, Remenyi, and Schunda. Established in Budapest in 1898, he operated under the sign `The Cremoneser'. He crafted around 100 violins based on Stradivari and Brescian models, although the majority, including violas and cellos, were made using a Guarneri pattern. Several assistants were employed by him, including his son Andras (II), F. Bikszegi, A. Werner, J. Michelberger, A. Baratury, and S. Komaromy. Instruments made entirely by him featured labels with the text: 'eigene Handarbeit'.
