Alois (Alajos) Werner. Alois (Alajos) Werner's connection to the Bohemian Werner family, if any, remained unknown. He apprenticed with A. Bergmann from 1900. From 1904 to 1910, he was employed by M. Remenyi and worked for C. Haudek in Vienna from 1910 to 1911. He moved to Poller in Vienna from 1911 to 1913, then to Fiorini in Munich in 1914, Hug in Zurich in 1915, and Hill in London from 1915 to 1916. He returned to Budapest and worked for W. J. Schunda until 1929, establishing himself independently that year on Magyar Street. In 1950, he was appointed luthier to the royal opera and conservatoire, as well as head of the board of Master Examiners of Violin Makers. He employed M. Frirsz, father and son, along with other workers involved in wind instrument making. He produced well over 180 violins, four violas, and four cellos, showcasing fine work on classical models with golden-yellow and orange shades of varnish, using fine materials and achieving beautifully finished results.
