William Turner

Violin maker
(c. 1647 – 1656)

William Turner worked in Aldgate, London, around 1650. Several fine viols existed in various collections. Most of them were characterized by a heart-shaped rose in the table and single broad purflings. These features were also noted on a viol by C. Wise, suggesting a possible connection between the two makers. No authenticated violins were known.
