James L. Wilson
–
James L. Wilson studied under J. Mann in Glasgow, alongside A. Morrison. He established his own practice in Greenock in 1889. His professional work featured Guarneri models. Rattray cited one example from 1907, which displayed eccentricities in the head carving reminiscent of Degani. Henley also referenced copies of Stradivari and Maggini. He used Whitelaw oil varnish, typically exhibiting a crackled texture, in various shades of red and orange-brown. His work was signed internally.
