Carl Sennewald
Violin maker

Carl Sennewald was an electrical engineer and a self-taught violin maker. He subsequently attended the Markneukirchen Violin-Making School and was active in Munich in 1905, Rudolstadt in 1907, Berlin in 1911, and Cologne from 1925. His work included copies of Stradivari and Guarneri in various suitable shades of varnish. He produced fine and accurate instruments, which were branded internally with his initials and featured manuscript labels. Each instrument was given an individual name.
