Stanislav Rowinski
Bow maker / Violin maker
(b. 1858)
Stanislav Rowinski was a violin and bow maker who studied under Kotinski in Bydgoszcz starting in 1876. In 1882, he relocated to London, where he established himself in Fitzroy Square and later, from 1902, in Chiswick High Road. He produced instruments for the trade, with few known featuring his own label. Some of his violins had a narrow model with a pinched arch and dark yellow varnish, while others were more traditional with red-brown varnish. He made bows of medium quality, branded according to the original model used. Additionally, he managed a string-making factory in Italy that produced his own 'Aliquot' brand. He retired from making in 1922. His violins were branded on the back button: 'Rowinski London W'. The printed label read: Patentee Brevete / Master 1920 Violin / Rowinski. London. W.
