George Corsby was originally a shoemaker from Northampton. He operated at 8 Princes Street, London from 1835 to 1841, and then moved to 9 Princes Street from 1841 to 1869. He was a dealer in musical instruments, engaging in typical London trade work. The instruments included Amati or Stainer models with thin brown or golden yellow varnish, likely produced by outworkers.
