Son of Matthias I and older brother of Sebastian I, Georg Kloz I seems to have enjoyed some sort of honorable status during his career. His violins, which are well-made and on a somewhat wider model than those of his brother, possess an attractive yellowish-brown or reddish-brown varnish. The ornamental borders of his labels are the same as those found on the labels of his son Matthias III and nephew Aegidius Sebastian.
