Back: Two-piece, quarter-cut, with relatively narrow flames ascending from the centre joint.

Top: Two asymmetrical halves

Scroll: unflamed maple

Ribs: intensely flamed

Varnish: Light orange-brown

Length of back: 35.1 cm

Upper bouts: 15.8 cm

Middle bouts: 10.5 cm

Lower bouts: 20.1 cm

Notes:

"The ex-Sorkin Guarneri was originally thought to be a Strad, by the way, and my father was the one who told Hill & Sons that he thought it was a Guarneri, which they verified. It used to be called the 'Mischakoff' for that reason."
