Back: One-piece, cut on the slab, of almost plain wood of horizontal medium curl on the extremeties of the lower bouts

Top: of medium to open grain

Scroll: later, of medium to narrow curl

Ribs: of irregular medium curl

Varnish: Red-brown

Length of back: 35.8 cm

  • Letter: Rembert Wurlitzer Inc., New York, NY (1962) Notes that the model is shorter than the 'long' pattern, which he more frequently used. Wurlitzer further notes that a mould for this particular type of outline still exists in the 'Museo Stradivariano; in Cremona, together with other effects from Stradivari's workshop.
  • Certificate: Rembert Wurlitzer Inc., New York, NY (1962) Notes that the instrument is purfled with only one strip of dyed hardwood and that the model recalls the 'long' pattern of Antonio Stradivari's work.
