Sebastien Vuillaume
Violin maker
(1835 – 1875)
Sebastien Vuillaume was the son and pupil of Claude-François Vuillaume (V). He worked for his uncle, Jean-Baptiste. He established himself independently at 27 boulevard Bonne-Nouvelle, Paris, around 1867. He received bronze and silver medals at the Paris Exhibitions of 1867 and 1868. Nestor Audinot assisted him and later succeeded him. His work was inconsistent. He produced good classical models, but they were never at the level of Jean-Baptiste. His varnish was a deep red-brown, and he created very good and functional bows.
