Anders Rasmussen
Violin maker
(1862 – 1933)
Anders Rasmussen was a pupil of F. W. Hansen, studying briefly in the late 1880s. He worked in Gandlose before relocating to Vikso, Aarhus in 1888, and then to Copenhagen from 1908 to 1910. In 1913, he emigrated to Omaha, Nebraska, where he established a shop and began a new career. His model was derived from Stradivari, and he demonstrated good workmanship with his own fine-quality varnish. His early instruments show some influence from Hansen, while his later work tends to be somewhat heavier in construction. Around 1918, he returned to Copenhagen.
