Angelo Molia
Violin maker
(fl. 1758 – 1764)
Angelo Molia was a pupil of Bernardo Calcani, likely serving as an assistant towards the end of Calcani's life, although there is no documentary evidence of this connection. His work, characterized by a somewhat rustic finish, focused on small models derived from Stradivari. The varnish used was typically a golden-orange or slightly opaque red-brown with a thin consistency. Molia employed plain materials and crafted a meanly proportioned scroll with a small throat, while the soundholes were notably large. His instruments are labeled with "Angelo Molia / Fece in Geneva A 1758" and "Angelo Molia / fece in Genova 1760"
