Vincenzo Gagliano
Violin maker
(c. 1820 – 1886)
Vincenzo Gagliano, the son and pupil of Raffaele Gagliano, worked alongside his father in Strada Monte Oliveto. He joined the workshop of Raffaele and Antonio Gagliano before their deaths in 1857 and 1860, contributing to the final instruments produced by the brothers, particularly cellos. After inheriting the workshop, Vincenzo struggled to maintain the business's momentum despite his talent as a maker. Few instruments bear his original labels today, as many have since acquired the labels of his predecessors. His label reads: 'Vincenzo Gagliano / Napoli / Fecit Anno 18..'
