Michele De Luccia II
Violin maker

Michele De Luccia was a pupil of his cousin Gennaro de Luccia and his uncle Michele (I). He worked early in Italy, primarily focusing on plucked instruments. He established himself in Casigliano and then in Salerno from 1943 to 1944. In 1958, he emigrated to New York to work for Rembert Wurlitzer and later for Jacques Francais from 1970 to 1977. He continued to make new instruments until at least 1980. He created several different models using oil varnish of his own preparation. He was a very prolific maker of plucked instruments in Italy, producing 80 violins and 15 double basses. In the USA, he made 40 violins, no violas, and 10 cellos.
