Olav Breivik emigrated to America around 1914. He trained as a violin maker in Chicago starting in 1927. Before settling in Milwaukee in 1934, he worked in Neenah, Wisconsin. His instruments included Stradivari and Guarneri models. He was credited with 140 violins, 40 violas, and eight cellos.
