Edgar Bishop
Bow maker
(1904 – 1943)
Edgar Bishop apprenticed to William Retford at the firm of W.E. Hill & Sons alongside Albert Leeson after WWI ended in 1918, and the two became the cantankerous Retford's favorite pupils. Bishop and Leeson worked together on the department's most revered and demanding projects, including the spectacular gold 'fleur de lys' bows. They also re-made some of William Grieve Johnston's later works. Bishop's bows are marked with the numeral 2.
