After several relocations, Hill opened the firm on which his legacy rests in 1880. Known as 'W.E. Hill & Sons,' over the succeeding generations the firm set an extraordinary standard for repair and restoration work, as well as for fine bow making. Hill's violins themselves are rare and not especially noteworthy, but nonetheless upon his death in 1895 he left a thriving business behind to his conscientious and skilled sons. Read Less
