Mark Yakoushkin
(b. 1953)
Mark Yakoushkin grew up in Colorado before moving to the UK in 1971. While based in Oxford he developed an interest in painting as well as bows of the violin family. In the early years of his career the violinist Manoug Parikian guided and critiqued his direction in bowmaking. He received a short period of tuition with Steven Bristow in 1978, and then worked as a maker and repairer for Haken and Bell in Abingdon. In 1983 he was one of three partners to set up Oxford Violins which is still trading in its original form today.
