Anton Zunterer


Violin maker
(1858 – 1917)

Anton Zunterer studied at the Mittenwald school of violin making. He later worked for Sprenger in Stuttgart and Lembock in Vienna. In 1888, he took over the business of F. Ranftler in Munich. He was appointed luthier to the Bavarian Court. His son, also named Anton, succeeded him. He used Stradivari and Guarneri models, applying both oil and spirit varnish.
