Johann Michael Willer granted citizenship in Prague in 1780 and became head of the luthiers guild in 1825. He successfully evolved from the Stainer-Tyrolean model of his early work to an elegant Amatise Stradivari model, while still retaining a slightly exaggerated edge flute to the arch. His workmanship was fine and disciplined, featuring long elegant corners and a resinous soft red-brown varnish. ...Read More Earlier work on the Stainer model displayed a thinner, less attractive pale brown varnish.
