Francesco Goffriller, son of Matteo Goffriller, left his father's workshop in Venice in 1714 to work in Udine. He seems to have predeceased Matteo and produced instruments characterized by a coarser finish and slightly less discipline than those of his father, yet they possessed great character, enhanced by the beautiful dark red varnish and golden ground typical of Venice.
