Charles Mennégand
Violin maker

Charles Mennégand apprenticed in Mirecourt. He was a pupil of Rambeaux in Paris from 1840 to 1845. In 1851, he worked for Maucotel. He established himself independently in Amsterdam, Netherlands from 1852 to 1857, before returning to Paris. He received medals at several competitions in France, although his most productive years occurred in Amsterdam. In Paris, he primarily focused on repair and restoration work, for which he had a fine reputation. His work included mostly Stradivari models, producing violins, violas, and cellos. He signed his work internally as `C. Mennegand'.
