Jaroslav Antonin Dvorák
(1861 – 1921)
Jaroslav Antonin Dvorák was the son and pupil of Jan Baptista Dvorak. He independently established himself in Prague starting in 1885. He won several medals and diplomas. His instruments were based on Stradivari and Guarneri models and were very well executed. The varnish was of good quality, very brightly colored, laid over a yellow ground, and often shaded. He used first-class materials. The scrolls were beautifully carved, exhibiting perfectly Cremonese balance and geometry. Printed labels appeared in various styles and fonts: Jaroslav Dvorák / Houslar / Praha / 18.. and Jaroslav Dvorák / fecit Pragae Anno 1894.
