Violin maker

Jan Cerny was a self-taught violin maker, active from around 1922 to 1950. He invented a new type of violin featuring soundholes located in the middle ribs, and he replaced the bass bar and sound post with his own patented devices. He won gold medals at Prague in 1924, Brünn in 1928, and The Hague in 1949. Additionally, he crafted conventional violins based on the Stradivari form.
