Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi was a violin maker born in Germany who arrived in Milan during the mid-18th century, where he was clearly influenced by Paolo Antonio Testore. B. Guadagnini, who was active in Milan from 1750 to 1758. His early creations reflected the style of Paolo Testore, featuring bulbous arching and simple golden-brown varnish. In contrast, his later works displayed flat arches, elaborate soundholes, and a tendency to extend the last turn of the eye in a Germanic fashion, often using a thicker, sometimes quite brittle, golden-yellow or red varnish.
