Bartolomeo Tassini
Violin maker
(fl. 1740 – 1760)
Bartolomeo Tassini created a Stainer model. The work was rather unrefined. Varnish was either pale yellow or dark brown, neither of which was entirely satisfying. The soundholes were wide-set and upright, with some featuring ebony black outer strips and maple purfling. The pegbox tapered, and the instrument was broad across the chin but very narrow at the large open throat. The volutes had prominent eyes. Materials were generally of first class.
