Serafino Casini
Violin maker
(1863 – c. 1952)
Serafino Casini established his business first at Campi Bisenzio, near Florence, in 1899 as a maker of plucked instruments. He later moved to 8 Via San Elisabetta, Florence, where he expanded into making violins. His instruments were not well crafted, featuring a very crude outline and flat arching. The varnish was decent, available in brown or dark red. Several violins were made from wood sourced from a demolished 16th-century church in Florence. He branded his work on the button with 'S. C. ' and included a printed label that read: Applicato sistema "Casini" Brevettato / Via della Cernaia N. 41 / Firenze / Anno 19..
