Thomas Simpson

Thomas Simpson was a piano repairer in Walsall until 1898. Thereafter, he became a self-taught maker of violins and bows in Peterborough. He moved to Birmingham in 1900 and worked as a repairer. He retired to Brixham in 1925. His work was inconsistent and unrefined, yet careful. Violins were sometimes branded with initials, a date, and a number, while bows were branded with: SIMPSON BIRMINGHAM.
