Bows of the
18th Century
L’Archet Révolutionnaire is a major exhibition of fifty bows from 18th-century French, English, German and Italian makers, including the Tourte family, Duchaine, Dodd, Mauchand and Pajeot, among many others. This online arm to the exhibition has a gallery of highlight bows, historical introductions to the period, and selected commentaries on individual bows and makers.
Accompanying the exhibition is a week-long programme of masterclasses, lectures and performances with leading bow experts and performers, designed to delve into the musical, social and political contexts of bow making in this period.
