Shipping Assistant – New York

Position: Shipping Assistant (Art Handling/Logistics)

Reports to: Logistics Manager

Location: New York (on-site) *All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States

Contract: Part-time

Compensation: $25-30 (Hourly)

Hours: 20 hours / week during 10am–6pm, Monday through Thursday

Summary

The Shipping Assistant position involves a combination of art handler and shipper duties. This role is responsible for the careful handling, packing, and shipment of instruments, bows, and related materials. The ideal candidate has a steady hand, excellent organizational skills, and an appreciation for working with delicate and valuable objects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and pack instruments, bows, etc. securely for domestic and international shipment
• Assist with unpacking and receiving incoming items
• Accurately record outgoing and incoming shipments
• Provide assistance with auction setup and breakdown
• Participate in inventory audits
• Support other departments during non-peak seasons
• Ensure compliance with company policies
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized

Qualifications

• Prior experience in packing, shipping, and art handling preferred
• Experience with fragile or high-value items is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
• Ability to lift, carry, and move boxes up to 40 lbs safely
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills
• Interest in auction and/or musical instruments a bonus, but not required
