Labeled, "Petrus Merighi, Fecit Parmæ, Anno 1766."
Bearing the W. E. Hill & Sons registration number to the fingerboard, "H 747" which corroborates this violin as the work of Pietro Merighi. The lower ribs and top modern replacements, possibly of the Bisiach school, c. 1900.
Back: in two pieces of maple with mild flame ascending slightly to the center.
Top: in two pieces of spruce with medium width grain.
Scroll: of plane maple
Ribs: of similar wood to the back.
Varnish: of an orange-brown color.
Length of back: 35.8 cm
Upper bouts: 16.1 cm
Middle bouts: 11.4 cm
Lower bouts: 20.1 cm
