"In all probability, this is the bow which was purchased for Menuhin by Henry Goldman in 1929, along with the 'Prince Khevenhüller' Stradivari. The receipt for the purchase is sold with lot 11, but a photocopy is sold with this lot.In his autobiography, Unfinished journey, Menuhin writes: 'Henry Goldmann wrote Emil Herrmann a cheque for $60,000, the Wall Street Crash having preceded his gift by about one week. Herrmann, for his part, included in the purchase price the Tourte bow which I still use.'"
