Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, Paris, 1863, the 'St. Joseph'
Violin: 50808
Numbered 2518 in two places: on the back near the neck block and in the middle of the plate.
Back: Two-piece
Notes:
"As can clearly be seen in the photograph, Mr. Gorrill's Vuillaume is named after St. Joseph. . . Although not exactly identical with the "Messie," the English expert, Charles Beare, considers Mr. Gorrill's "St. Joseph" to be a copy of it. . . According to Mr. Gorrill, the "St. Joseph," which he now enjoys playing, had lain fallow for some sixty or seventy years before he acquired it."Jean Baptiste Vuillaume: His Life and Work, Journal of the Violin Society of America, Vol. V, No. 4, Flushing, NY
